WOMEN MEAN BUSINESS!!!

This months article is inspired by a beautiful, successful women, who came into my shop the other day and purchased two business suits.  She is stunning to say the least and we told her she has the style to carry off whatever she chooses to wear.  That day she chose a black suit with white collar and cuffs with an off set button front closing.  The second suit chosen was an elegant white suit for a business meeting out of state that she will be attending. This has a one button closing.  Going though the pins on hand she chose a perfect gold and pearl flower pin that finished off the outfit. Heads will turn when she walks into a room.

Sadly, my friend is the exception.  Many women just don’t go that extra mile for themselves, choosing rather to do for others.  I am not saying this is a bad thing but when you look at the following facts, women need to turn up the heat so they can be an equal to men in the work place.  Historically, women earn much less than men do for the same employment.

Match this against the facts that women have more spending power than ever before and control the bulk of the 3.3 trillion in consumer spending.  By 2010, half of all the wealth in the nation will belong to women and by 2030 that will rise to two thirds. (Pink Magazine)

Women, we need to Dress for Success!!!  Suits have been and will remain a powerful statement in women’s clothing.  Some tips for purchasing: Single breasted jackets always look the best.  The less buttons the better, three is a good number.  If three pieces are offered buy them all, jacket, skirt and pants. Make sure the collar lies flat against the back of your neck.

The skirt needs to be lined for a smooth look and belt loops for the pants but not the skirt.

The most important thing is to feel great when you are wearing your suit and never sacrifice style for comfort.  It is possible to find both!

Check out fabrics, you want something that breathes but doesn’t wrinkle.  Crunch the fabric in your hand to see if it wrinkles or bounces back to shape.

Suits can be worn to casual events, a Capri pant with matching jacket or a Capri jean with fabric decoration and matching fabric jacket are two ideas.  Then we move up to everyday business suits for office work and at the end, silks and satins with beading and rhinestones for weddings and other very special occasions.  Check out Elizabeth Michaels window for a look at some suit ideas for you!

Most of all REMEMBER – YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Yes, women are on the move and that move is UP…15.6 million women have started businesses of their own.  I began my business five years ago when I was 24 years old.  WOW, I never imagined being where I am today.
