Wedding 2007

It isn’t Double O Seven it is Triple O Seven, 07-07-07, the wedding date chosen by many this year.  It will be an easy anniversary to remember for husbands!

It takes a lot of planning to pull off a wedding.  During the first three months of each year brides have several large bridal shows to attend where vendors from all over the Mid-Ohio Valley share what they can do to make a brides wedding day perfect.

In March, Comfort Suites put on a nice event complete with a fashion show provided by Elizabeth Michaels of Vienna, WV.  Included are a few pictures from the show.  As you can see, the younger set can easily steal the moment.  Little Courtney and Hayden in real life are “best buddies” even though Hayden doesn’t look real sure about modeling in a style show. 

Colors this year are fabulous!!  Bridal gowns in the shades of Sand, Rum Pink, Cognac and Blush are stealing the show.  Gowns are also popular with colored beading or with a bodice in a contrasting color. What a beautiful bride they make.  Bride’s maid gowns and flower girl dresses follow suit. 

A popular accent color this year is chocolate.  Tuxedos are available now in Chocolate as well.  Brown is the new black.  Don’t tell your favorite man, but Tuxedos are also available in camouflage and yes they have been ordered. 

Brides start out thinking they have plenty of time but it is wise to make decisions on Bridal Gowns and Brides Maid dresses at least four months before the wedding.  It takes time to get all the bridal party measured and get their deposits to order.  All gowns need to be ordered at the same time so you get the same dye lot in the fabric.  If dresses are not ordered at least 3 months before the wear date you start getting into “rush” charges.  They can add a good bit to the price our your outfit.

Most items need some type of alterations in order to get a perfect fit.  Very few people are the exact proportions of a manufacturer’s sizing chart.  Items need to be ordered to the largest body measurement.  If it is a busy season at the dress shop, alterations can take a few weeks. 

Mother’s of the bride and groom always put themselves last and end up two weeks out from the wedding and then panic when they can’t find what they want.  The Mother’s of the bride and groom are the hostesses of the party and they need to look their best as well.  Often times they need to do special orders as well.  A dress shop cannot carry every style and size of what they have to choose from.

As for colors for the mother’s, they need to think of the total picture.  We often suggest they think about the wedding photos when they ask about what color to choose.  What color will blend well with the other choices and make a beautiful picture.  Dresses today are offered in so many color choices that painting a beautiful picture is not the challenge it used to be.

Mother’s dresses are priced from the low hundreds to several hundred dollars.  There are beautiful suits, strapless gowns, gowns with jackets, pantsuits, ball gowns and Sunday best dresses to choose from.
